Stainless steel and Mild steel, are different from each other which can be differentiating on the basis of their- mechanical and chemical properties, application, Heat Resistance, and Manufacturing Process and chemical composition.

A). According to Composition
- The first point which is a huge difference between them is their chemical composition mixture. In mild steel, carbon is used as an alloy material which is percentage 0.16% to 0.18%. The maximum amount of percentage for mixing carbon alloy to mild steel is 0.25%. This is not only the one which is required during the manufacturing of mild steel, but also Manganese (0.70% to 0.90%), Sulphur( Maximum 0.04%), Silicon( Maximum 0.40%), and Phosphorus ( Maximum 0.4%) required as same. Other metal alloys required in addition as per requirement.
- Besides, in stainless steel, the alloys that used during the manufacturing of it are Nickle (More than 6%), Chromium (More than 12%), Molybdenum, Nitrogen, Sulphur, Carbon (0.1% to 0.2%), Manganese, Copper, Phosphorus, and Silicon. The Chromium and Nickle alloy is increasing the corrosion resistive properties and hardness of the material which is high than the mild steel.
B). According to Mechanical Properties
- Strength: Stainless steel is having high strength besides mild steel has reasonable strength.
- Ductility: Stainless steel more ductile than the mild steel because generally, they have a large amount of Nickle.
- Durability: Stainless Steel is more durable than Mild steel. In stainless steel high corrosion resistance property take place which makes it more durable than Mild Steel.
- Cost-effective: Stainless steel is expensive than mild steel.
